Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel firemen reported the rescue of a pet from inside a burning home Tuesday morning. The call was received by the island fire department at 10:15 a.m. regarding a second floor house fire in Colonia El Encanto 2.

Once at the scene, firemen were informed that there were two cats inside the house. Firemen worked to extinguish the fire and were able to rescue one of the two pets. Owner Dana “M” was reunited with one of her cats. The room on fire was a loss.
Cozumel police say the cause is still under investigation.
“Fire under control in Colonia El Encanto 2. March 18, at 10:15 a.m., our response unit responded to a house fire in Colonia El Encanto 2.
“Upon arriving, the firefighters found a fire on the second floor of the home. The owner reported that only her pets were still inside the house.
“They acted quickly to control the fire and extinguish it completely with 1,500 liters of water. A primary search was also conducted in the bedroom and bathroom to ensure no one was in danger.
“Among the burned items were eco-friendly bags, clothing, plastics, and a mini-split unit, among other items. The cause of the fire is still unknown. However, the good news is that one of the cats was rescued and returned to its owner.

“Once the fire was under control, exhaust fans were installed to ventilate the area,” Patronato de Bomberos de Cozumel reported.
