City council of Cozumel denies dock construction permit

Cozumel, Q.R. — The city council of Cozumel has issued a new refusal against the company El Jaguar Servicios Inmobiliarios for the construction of a dock.

The project Rehabilitación de Pasarela Existente, was rejected by city council for failing to meet feasibility. The company had applied for permission to build a dock in the Palancar area in the south of the island.

Previously, the city council of Cozumel and the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas (Conanp), the decentralized body of Semarnat, have insisted on the null feasibility of this project and other projects that the company has wanted to develop in the southern area of Cozumel.

Cozumel mayor Pedro Joaquín Delbouis made it clear that city council will not endorse projects that are not feasible for Cozumel.
