Chetumal, Q.R. — A man was taken to hospital in Chetumal after being knocked off his bike by hanging utility lines. Paramedics transferred the motorcycle driver from Chetumal Avenue where he was found laying on the pavement.
The accident was reported around 11:00 p.m. after the driver was clotheslined by a set of overhead lines dangling across Francisco I. Madero Avenue. Authorities were notified of the problem in the David Gustavo Gutiérrez Ruiz neighborhood.
Responding paramedics found the man lying on the pavement with a bloodied mark across his neck.
Chetumal Transit cordoned off the area to prevent further accidents.
According to initial reports, moments before, a truck had snagged the overhead cables of a phone company, causing them to dangle above the street. Police reportedly secured the vehicle involved and turned it over to the State Attorney General’s Office.
