Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Divers are starting their search today after a local man went missing in Laguna Azul. The 29 year old cenote swimmer was reported missing around 5:00 p.m. Thursday in the community of Señor de la Cruz.

The man’s family reported seeing him enter the water. He swam out approximately 10 meters where he began to sink and quickly disappeared. They were unable to find him.
Members of the Public Security Directorate stationed in the town arrived at the scene along with a Red Cross ambulance, however, paramedics were without a body to resuscitate.

The man is presumed drowned. Specialized cenote divers from Playa del Carmen have been requested by Civil Protection. They will scour the water Friday in search of the swimmer. He has been identified as 29 year old Jair “N”, a Tulum hotel worker.
