Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Municipal officials were left to repair a guardrail after a driver plowed through it Saturday. Police were notified of the single vehicle mishap Saturday morning on a section of Costa Mujeres road.
The driver was trapped behind the wheel of their car after becoming stuck in a metal guardrail that left the car dangling. Motorists who witnessed the single vehicle accident called 9-1-1 for help.
Authorities arrived to find the front wheels of the car hanging from the overpass.
Paramedics and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance. Municipal police did not provide information as to how the driver ended up embedded in the metal guardrail with their vehicle driven halfway off the bridge.
There were no serious injuries reported.
