Cancun, Riviera Maya — Five hotels in the state of Quintana Roo have been voted as Best in the World by Tripadvisor travelers for 2018.
The list, which consists of the top 25 Best Hotels in the World, lists five hotels between Cancun and Riviera Maya that travelers voted as being globally outstanding.
For Quintana Roo, travelers say hotels Beloved Playa Mujeres, Le Blanc Spa Resort, Excellence Playa Mujeres, Excellence Riviera Cancun and Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun were among the 25 best in the world.
The Cancun, Riviera Maya hotels took the placements of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11, respectively out of the 25 awarded, which was headed by the hotel Ikos Olivia in Gerakini, Greece.
Another Mexican hotel that made the top 25 list included the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, which came in eighth, giving Mexico the largest presence on the list with six Best in the World hotels, surpassing Turkey, which had four.
In addition to the six Mexican hotels listed by Tripadvisor, the list includes hotels from other parts of the Americas such as the Dominican Republic, Brazil and Jamaica, as well as Mauritius, Cyprus, Spain and the Maldives Islands.
