Cancun, Q.R. — While the state of Quintana Roo will finish the month of March in a yellow epidemiological light, governor Carlos Joaquín says the state is very close to green. In his latest address regarding the state’s covid figures, Joaquin reports the continued decrease in the contagion curve provides a real possibility of reaching a green state, which would mean better levels in terms of economic recovery.
Maintaining a low hospital occupancy, following our vaccination processes in people over 60 and having already done so with Covid’s first-line health care personnel has given us hope to move forward.
He says with continued health protocols, the state is very close to green and could “reach those colors as long as we maintain the health habits. We cannot forget that we have seen a relaxation in some places that put us at risk and that, we cannot allow,” said the governor.
He added that as long as people continue in compliance, the state will be thought of as a trusted destination for visitors, “something that will allow us to continue recovering our economy, recovering our jobs and generating income for Quintana Roo families.”
His address comes at the same time as the announcement of the return of Royal Caribbean cruises to the island of Cozumel.
