Cancun, Q.R. — A gas explosion in a Cancun Hotel Zone restaurant kitchen left both workers and guests dazed and confused.
The explosion caused a fire inside the kitchen of Rosa Negra, a restaurant located at Kilometer 15 of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Emergency 911 responded to the call, sending police, firemen and ambulances to the restaurant.
According to Alejandro Beaven Magaña who was in charge at the time, the incident happened around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. He says that the explosion was the result of gas accumulation.
Firemen were quick to control the fire, using chemical dust and extractors to ventilate the building. Beaven Magaña says that first investigations indicated a gas accumulation was responsible.
There were no reports of human injuries.
