Cancun, Q.R. — Viva Aerobus has started a new direct flight between the seaside cities of Acapulco and Cancun. The first first landed at Cancun International Tuesday from the state of Guerrero.

Governor Mara Lezama led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the start of the new direct flight between Cancun and Acapulco operated by Viva Aerobus. The direct flights fly on Tuesdays and Saturdays and will allow travel between both destinations without stops.

The Governor emphasized that these new flights also represent an opportunity for more tourists from Guerrero to discover the attractions of the Mexican Caribbean and for families from Quintana Roo to travel more easily to Acapulco, one of the most emblematic tourist destinations in the country.

The flights will be operated by Viva Aerobus with Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity for 186 passengers, which will allow for expanded travel options between both destinations and promote tourist, cultural and economic exchange.

The importance of this new air service is reflected in the dynamism of the Cancun International Airport, which during 2025. Last year, the airport recorded 29.3 million passengers of which 19.4 million were international and 9.8 million domestic passengers.
