Cancun, Q.R. — Unionized workers from Interjet in Cancun joined the national strike Monday, derived from the company’s failure to pay staff.
Internjet employees are waiting for the company to fulfill the commitment made last week after the appointment of Alejandro del Valle as president of the company’s Board of Directors, which was to cover unpaid salaries.
However, the company breached the agreement, which lead to the national strike Monday. Employees say once they are paid, the strike will end. This is the second time in as many months that Interjet employees in Cancun have demonstrated against the company for lack of payment.
Government consumer agency Profeco (Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor) has warned travelers against purchasing airline tickets with Interjet due to their continued breach of contracts via flight cancellations.
