Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities in Cancun were out in full force over the weekend with increased security in the Cancun Hotel Zone. Swats of military personnel along with municipal police patrolled packed streets of roaming Spring Break vacationers.
Uniformed elements began their increased patrols Saturday night, patrols that were carried on until Sunday when streets finally emptied. Thousands of partying young people were out enjoying their vacation by bar hopping along the center of the Hotel Zone’s more popular clubs.
Several different uniforms could be seen walking the streets of the Cancun Hotel Zone at kilometer 9 in particular, an area with a high concentration of clubs and shopping.
Elements patrol the zone day and night as part of the city’s Safe Beach Program and the Red Circle operation, that sees an increase in police presence to thwart criminal acts.
There were no criminal incidences reported during their patrols over the Spring Break party weekend.
