Borge faces prosecutor February 1, could return to Quintana Roo

Cancun, Q.R. — A video conference hearing for ex-governor Roberto Borge Angulo, is scheduled for February 1 says the Office of the Special Prosecutor for the Fight Against Corruption.

Rosaura Villanueva Arzápalo, head of the Office of the Special Prosecutor for the Fight Against Corruption, says that Borge will face charges from a courtroom in the state of Morelos where his is being held.

She explained that Borge will face charges for the crimes of illicit use of power and irregular performance of the public function in the case of VIP-SAESA for irregular contracts that amount to nearly 600 million peso, adding that once linked to the crime, he will then return to Quintana Roo for sentencing.

There are three arrest warrants pending by the State Attorney General’s Office against the ex-governor for the crimes of embezzlement, irregular performance while in public service and corruption and abuse of power.

Borge Angulo continues to be held in the Federal Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center in Ayala, Morelos.
