Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Members of the state’s SSC team have shut down a large jungle drug lab in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The lab was located over the weekend during an operation by elements of the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC).
Members of the SSC’s Jaguar Tactical Force made the finding near the town of Petcacab. The discovery was made during an operation in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense, National Guard and Felipe Carrillo Puerto Municipal Police.
At the site, authorities reported finding drums and bags of chemical substances along with firearms and ammunication, gas tanks and radio communication devices.
In an officials statement, they said “the SSC participated in an inter-institutional operation where a laboratory allegedly used for the production of synthetic drugs was located.
“The Secretariat of Citizen Security, through the Jaguar Tactical Force and in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, and the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Municipal Police, deployed an inter-institutional operation in the southern part of the state.
“The operational units moved to the vicinity of the town of Petcacab where a coordinated tactical deployment was carried out as part of strategic security and crime-fighting actions.
“During the operation, authorities were able to locate a laboratory allegedly used for the production of synthetic drugs at a location identified through intelligence and territorial surveillance.
“At the site, drums containing unidentified liquid chemical substances were found, bags containing unknown crystalline substances, rifle and holster accessories, spent cartridges from long-range weapons, gas tanks, radio communication devices and two-inch hoses connected to water pumps directed toward nearby lagoons.
“The Secretariat of Citizen Security reaffirms its commitment to working in close coordination with institutions from all levels of government to frontally combat organized crime and safeguard the peace and well-being of citizens.”
