Álvaro Obregón overpass of Chetumal open to public traffic

Chetumal, Q.R. — Highway access to the city of Chetumal via the Álvaro Obregón overpass is open. On Monday, the entrance bridge to Chetumal, which was closed for more than a year, was opened to pubic traffic.

“We are modernizing, making investments so that when you enter through Álvaro Obregón you know that you have arrived in our capital, that you are in Chetumal, in this extraordinary city. So, welcome to Chetumal. The entrance to Álvaro Obregón is ready,” Governor Mara Lezama said.

This new bridge will be used by those coming from federal highway 186 and 307 and will pass over the tracks of the Maya Train. The Tren Maya station is visible from the site.

“The opening of this new bridge connects strategic points in the capital. It connects the general hospital that we are building, the Oncology Hospital, the Technological University, the ExpoFer which is in Quintana Roo Park, the Fiscal Precinct, the Cereso, Airport, the completely new the federal agency building and the Tren Maya station,” she said.

The Governor emphasized that Álvaro Obregón Avenue is essential. “We will continue investing in our beautiful capital,” she said. Last week she announced the highway overpass entrance to the city would be open before Christmas.
