Cozumel, Q.R. — A total of 23 people have been arrested by police after a raid on a house in Cozumel.
The raid and arrests took place early Saturday when members of la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) entered the home while the Mexican Navy surrounded the area outside. The home, which was located on Adolfo Rosado Salas Street, was a known drug house.
Police report that during the raid, numerous drugs including crack and marijuana and a large amount of cash were found inside the house along with minors. They report that during the arrests, a total of three minors were found, one 16-year-old of Mexican nationality and two of Honduran, a boy of 11 and a girl of 12.
The raid resulted in the arrest of 23 adults, including two Honduran women who were unable to prove their legal stay in the country. Others inside included six non-Mexican foreigners along with 15 Mexican nationals, five of whom were women.
The Navy of Mexico provided armed security to those carrying out the search warrant.
The property and its contents were seized, while the 23 people arrested were transferred to Cancun and made available to the specialized crimes unit.
