Bacalar, Q.R. — Work on a Maya Train station in the municipality of Bacalar has begun. Over the weekend, the clearing of land began where the station will be built.
Construction was started on the heels of an announcement by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) who said they were focused on archaeological findings in sections 5, 6 and 7 of the train route.
The recent start of work has begun approximately three kilometers from the town of Bacalar. The passenger station is being constructed on a three hectare plot of land. On site engineers said they have been given a time frame of nine months to complete the Bacalar Section 6 station.
