Mahahual, Q.R. — A woman died by drowning in the seaside town of Mahahual Friday. The unnamed woman who was around 50, was pronounced dead on the beach.
Other swimmers called emergency services after seeing a body floating in the water. Responding paramedics from the Othón P. Blanco fire department found she had already died.
The area on the sand around the body was cordoned off while police were notified and forensics arrived to remove her.
Authorities have not named the woman. It is not known if she was a local or a tourist. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
