Mahahual, Q.R. — A new economic reactivation urban plan is in the works for the town of Mahahual. The Secretariat of Economic Development (Sede) held a meeting to define a roadmap to strengthen its infrastructure and services.

The meeting was led by Paul Carrillo de Cáceres, head of Sede, who met with government and business representatives of Mahahual. The group are working on establishing priorities and strengthening urban infrastructure including the rehabilitation of roads.
Carlos Flores Hidalgo, the General Director of the Strategic Projects Agency along with representatives from the Othón P. Blanco City Council, discussed key projects aimed at transforming the image and functionality of the town.
Paul Carrillo de Cáceres reported that they are also looking into the optimization of mobility schemes, fundamental elements to raise the competitiveness of the destination and improve visitor and resident experiences in Mahahual.
He emphasized that economic development must go hand in hand with legality, so it was agreed to move forward with land use planning and the regularization of settlements to provide legal certainty to families in the region.

At the close of the meeting, José Alberto Alonso Ovando, the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development said they are committed to maintaining close coordination with state agencies and the private sector, ensuring that every action undertaken contributes to orderly and sustainable growth that translates into social well-being and better opportunities for Mahahual.
