Chetumal, Q.R. — Jorge Ocampo Galindo, the Undersecretary of Public Security in Chetumal says only 80 of the city’s 250 surveillance cameras are in operation. He says he does not know if the non-functioning cameras will be connected or incorporated into the state’s C5 system in Cancun.
He revealed that the 80 surveillance cameras that the state capital has distributed on 20 poles, are interconnected with the Control, Command, Computing and Communication Center (C5 Centre) of Cancun, but there is no date for connection of the remaining cameras.
Regarding the reinforcement of security strategies, Galindo said the inter-institutional work is continuing between the municipal, state and federal governments and in turn, with the State Attorney General’s Office to follow up on the criminal acts that occur in the capital city.
He commented that the reinforcing of the operational strategy is dependent on the budget and what will be spent and how.
