Mexico City, Mexico — American firm Air Lease Corporation says they have reached an agreement with Aeromexico for the long-term lease of nine Boeing 737 aircraft. On Friday, the company announced the new agreement reached with Aeromexico, who intends to increase its fleet after completing financial restructuring.
Added to their fleet will be two 737-8s and seven 737-9s, all of which are scheduled for delivery between July of 2022 and August of 2023.
“The 737 offers the most modern, fuel-efficient technology to enhance the global capabilities of Mexico’s premier airline,” Air Lease Corporation Executive Chairman Steven Udvar-Hazy said in a statement.
At the time of the completion of their financial restructuring, Aeromexico announced that they planned to invest $5 billion USD over the next five years in fleet and other assets, adding 22 aircraft in 2022, to reach 147 operational units by the end of the year.
