Two women from U.S. flight arrested with firearms at Cancun International

Cancun, Q.R. — Two American women were arrested Tuesday at the Cancun International Airport for entering the country with handguns. The guns were located inside their checked-in luggage.

The women, both from Houston, were taken into police custody from the airport. Their weapons and loaded magazines were also seized.

According to the report, elements of the National Guard and personnel of the General Administration of Customs detained the women at the Cancun International Airport when they arrived on a flight from Houston, Texas.

It is the second arrest this month of an American traveler entering Mexico with an illegal firearm. On November 11, a man on a flight from St. Louis, Missouri, was taken into police custody from the Cancun airport after authorities located a handgun and three loaded magazines inside his luggage.
