Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — An accident caused by maintenance work in the laundry area of the Hotel Barceló Maya Beach in Puerto Aventuras has left two people injured after coming into contact with oil that leaked from the machines.
Although initial versions indicated an explosion inside the complex, Civil Protection authorities confirmed that the report issued by hotel staff was of maintenance work gone wrong, however, the agency says that an expert opinion into the incident will determine the official cause.
The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. inside the hotel complex with Civil Protection personnel and firemen responding. Civil Protection confirmed that the two injured workers were treated on site by hotel medical personnel.
