Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — At least two people were rushed to hospital Tuesday night after a two vehicle crash outside Puerto Aventuras. The crash happened between a compact sports car and a Jeep Patriot near a highway work zone.
According to early information, the car was seen speeding up the highway toward Playa del Carmen when the driver lost control at a highway work site, where it crashed into the Jeep.
A man and woman from inside the compact car were taken to hospital with head and leg injuries. There was no word on the driver of the Jeep.
Elements of Public Security from Puerto Aventuras attended the scene of the accident, requesting ambulances, firefighters and the National Guard road division.
The female driver of the car reportedly lost control of the car when she came upon the closed work zone where highway cones were placed in the area.
