Chetumal, Q.R. — Two medical personnel have been taken into custody for allegedly stealing medication from a Chetumal hospital. In a statement, the State Attorney General’s Office served arrest warrants against “Asunción “N” and Hipólito “ N” stemming from a July 2023 complaint.
The arrests were made after a legal complaint was filed accusing both of stealing donated cancer medication. The complaint was made by the mother of a teenager undergoing cancer treatment. The mother had a one year supply of the needed medication donated due to its high expense.
In a statement, the FGE said “…derived from the opening of an investigation on events reported on July 22, 2023, Investigative Police carried out two arrest warrants against “Asunción “N” and Hipólito “ N” when they were identified for their probable participation in the crime of aggravated robbery to the detriment of a public health institution in the city of Chetumal.
“The Investigation Agents complied with the court order (…) and the detainees were subsequently transferred to the Social Reintegration Center where they remain at the disposal of the jurisdictional authority.
