Tram system to transfer Maya Train passengers to Playa del Carmen city center tentative

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Lenin Amaro Betancourt, president of the Riviera Maya Business Coordinating Council announced the possibility of a tram for Playa del Carmen.

He explained that the possibility of a tram system is being considered for the city to transport Maya Train passengers from the station to the center. The tram idea was discussed during a recent meeting between himself and Javier May Rodríguez, director of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur).

If the idea turns out to be feasible, the tram would be constructed along Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue to provide the transport service for both tourists and local workers who are also anticipated to use the train.

According to plans, the tram would be built in Colosio of Playa del Carmen at the height of the peripheral.

Last year, Fonatur requested funding to build a similar system for Cancun. The agency requested money to build an intermodal transfer centre or Cetram in Cancun. The Cetram centre would interconnect the Cancun International Airport with the Maya Train and local transportation system.
