Track along Maya Train section 3 completely laid

Mexico City, Mexico — Track along section 3 of the Maya Train is reported 100 percent laid. Section 3, which runs from Calkiní, Campeche to Izamal, Yucatán, has all 159 kilometers of track in place.

In a Tren Maya progress report, the General Director of Tren Maya SA de CV, Óscar David Lozano Águila, said Tuesday that of the 159 kilometers laid, 99 kilometers corresponds to single track and 60 to electrified double track.

Lozano Águila said now, construction is focused on finishing the Maya Train stations along section 3. He detailed that the Tixkokob Maya Train Station is 86 percent complete, the Calkiní Station 80 percent, Maxcanú Station 88 percent, Umán Station 65 percent, the Teya Station 84 percent and the Izamal Station, 60 percent.

Workers are also focused on completing viaducts, drainage and wildlife crossings in the 15 municipalities that section 3 passes through.

During the Tuesday morning Presidential press conference, he highlighted that the route has facilities for the transportation of goods and cargo based on the construction of a multimodal terminal and another storage and distribution terminal for Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), which will allow the transfer of fuel through the Maya Train.

Earlier this month, Lozano Águila reported that track along section 2, which runs from Escárcega to Calkiní, in the state of Campeche, was finished.
