Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Nearly a dozen people were taken to hospital from a highway accident scene outside Puerto Aventuras Thursday. Three vehicles were destroyed in the federal highway crash that sent nearly a dozen to hospital.
Witnesses to the accident say one of the involved vans swerved into the oncoming lane and collided with a car. That car then collided with another van. The involved vehicles included a tourist transport van, a private car and a General Francisco May taxi van from Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
National Guard Highways were called in to direct traffic since the accident left lanes closed due to scattered debris. The two vans were located smashed and side-by-side on the highway while the private car was run off the road and into the ditch.
The accident happened Thursday afternoon near a Riviera Maya hotel outside Puerto Aventuras. The demolished car was found on the hotel’s property. According to first reports, 10 people were injured in the three vehicle crash.
