Three rescued at Mahahual after engine failure leaves them adrift

Mahahual, Q.R. — Three people were rescued off the coast of Mahahual after their vessel failed. The engine of Sorpresa stopped working while the trio were commercial fishing, leaving them stranded.

Personnel from the navy set out in search of the three men during the night hours Friday. They were located approximately 5.5 kilometers southeast of Mahahual. Marine officials transferred the men and their vessel to the Pescadores dock in Mahahual.

The three were medically evaluated and released without requiring attention.
