Three from ADO bus crash remain in Cancun hospital

Cancun, Q.R. — Three people remain in hospital after being injured in an ADO bus crash. The accident happened February 6, approximately 70 kms outside the city of Cancun when the bus crashed into the back of a dump truck.

Eight people were killed in the highway collision and 24 others reported injured. More than half of the injured were hospitalized. The bus was carrying 40 passengers at the time of the accident.

The ADO bus had just left Cancun bound for the city of Merida when it slammed into the back of a large dump truck working on a stretch of the Maya Train project. Both the driver of the bus and the truck were detained.

The driver of the dump truck has since been released from police custody, however, the driver of the ADO bus remains under guard in hospital since he is alleged to be responsible for causing the crash.

The bodies of seven of the eight victims, three of whom were foreign visitors, have been returned to their families.
