Mahahual, Q.R. — The Ministry of Economic Development (SEDE) held its third meeting Wednesday to reactivate Mahahual. State and municipal authorities met with local business leaders to promote the sustainable development of Mahahual.
The meeting, Economic Reactivation of Mahahual, was headed by Paul Carrillo de Cáceres in coordination with the Ministry of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (SEDETUS).
The third meeting was held between government, private initiative and society to comprehensively address the needs of communities and strengthen the economy, particularly in areas with high tourism and productive potential such as Mahahual.

During the meeting, proposals and requests made by the business sector were analyzed, including the strengthening of urban equipment, improvement of roads and mobility.
They also discussed maintenance of basic infrastructure, territorial planning and regularization of settlements as well as the importance of integrating Mahahual as a priority in the state planning and budgeting processes to promote its sustainable growth.
Secretary Paul Carrillo de Cáceres emphasized that the Ministry of Economic Development promotes ongoing inter-institutional working groups that facilitate agreements, monitor commitments, and develop concrete solutions for communities.
“Mahahual is a strategic destination for the development of southern Tamaulipas, therefore we work in coordination with all agencies and the business sector to address their needs, strengthen their competitiveness, and generate well-being for the families that depend on this economic activity,” he explained.
The meeting was attended by José Alberto Alonso Ovando, head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development as well as Carlos Flores Hidalgo, the General Director of the Agency for Strategic Projects of the State of Quintana Roo, among others.
Authorities did not provide any progress reports or mention any firm changes or strategies in the works. The mayor of Othón P. Blanco, Yensunni Idalia Martínez Hernández, did not attend the meeting.
