Ten women held for trafficking purposes released during Chetumal property search

Chetumal, Q.R. — A property search in Chetumal has lead to the release of 10 women being held for trafficking purposes. The woman were discovered inside a private home Friday by police.

The search took place at a house on Granadillo Street in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood of Chetumal. Inside, 10 adult women, alleged victims of trafficking in the form of prostitution, were removed, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) reported.

“After various investigative works, the State Attorney General (FGE) started an investigation that lead to a judge issuing a search warrant for a property located on Granadillo Street in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood.

“Investigative police, while carrying out a search inside the premises, found 10 adult women whom they rescued and took to the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office to give their statement in relation to this incident.

“At the scene, doses of green, dry grass with characteristics similar to marijuana were also seized. At the end of the procedure, official seals were placed on the property, which was placed under the custody of the Municipal Police,” the FGE added.
