Taxi Driver’s Union buys 18 new combi vans to run Puerto Aventuras route

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — New combi vans that run from Playa del Carmen to Puerto Aventuras have been put into circulation. The 18 new vans are replacing old ones state authorities said were unsafe for users in the event of an accident.

Luis Herrera Quiam, general secretary of the Taxi Drivers Union says the new vans have been integrated into circulating the Playa del Carmen-Puerto Aventuras route that sees approximately 5,000 users a day.

He explained that the vans were put into circulation after the Taxi Union received a warrant from authorities about the lack of safety of the old vans.

“Before any mishaps, the partners and the Union decided to make the investment of just over 11 million pesos for the purchase of 18 2020 and 2021 model units, which have passenger seats, air conditioning and air bags,” he said.

Herrera Quiam explained that the new vans will circulate over the next few days while they determine if a modification in routes is necessary to provide more complete coverage. Herrera Quiam noted that the cost of the Playa del Carmen-Puerto Aventuras route will remain the same.
