Taxi driver killed in weekend crash from Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — One of the three people killed in a weekend car accident has been reported to be from Puerto Aventuras. On Saturday night, three people were killed in a two vehicle crash on a section of the Chemax-Cobá highway near the Yucatan border.

One of the deceased has since been identified as Mario “R”, a taxi driver who lived in the Puerto Maya area of Puerto Aventuras.

The deadly Saturday night accident involved a taxi from the state of Quintana Roo and a private vehicle that collided head-on. Both the taxi driver and his passenger died at the scene. One person from inside the second vehicle also died.

The deceased taxi driver belonged to the Caribbean Sharks Union of Tulum. Mario “R” has since been returned to his native state of Tabasco for burial.
