Suspect who disappeared during house arrest to remain jailed during rape trial

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has ordered charges against a recently captured suspect who is to remain in prison after disappearing during house arrest. On Tuesday, a judge ordered Edgar “N” to remain in jail for the duration of his trial after being granted house arrest in 2022 then disappearing.

Psychiatrist wanted for rape of patient captured in Cancun

Quintana Roo authorities were offering a two million peso reward on information leading to the capture of Edgar “N”, a psychiatrist accused of rape. On Tuesday, the State Attorney General (FGE) reported that following his capture last week in collaboration with the National Guard, Edgar “N” was formally charged “for acts possibly constituting the crime of rape against a minor victim.”

According to the police investigation, “when the victim attended a psychiatric consultation on September 19, 2022, the defendant allegedly touched her inappropriately and committed acts that possibly constituted the crime of rape, which, according to the investigation, was not the first time,” they said.

Edgar “N” was located and arrested July 2 in Cancun as a result of field and office investigations by the Investigative Police.
