Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect arrested for the double murder of two people on a Cancun bus has been charged. The State Attorney General says José Jonathan “N” is facing charges of double homicide for the July 2024 shooting deaths.
“Based on the facts, on July 1, 2024, José Jonathan “N”, along with others, boarded a public transport bus on Kukulcán Boulevard in Cancun. Members of a criminal group opposing the suspect’s group were also on the vehicle, leading to a gun battle, resulting in the death of two people,” police said in a statement.
Police say a total of four people have been arrested in relation to the deadly broad daylight shooting.
“In the case of José Jonathan “N,” he was caught red-handed for his alleged involvement in acts that likely constituted drug related crimes, as he had narcotics among his belongings. At the time of his arrest, he provided a false identity as Javier “N”,” police said.

According to initial investigations, the defendant is part of a criminal group dedicated to drug dealing in the city of Cancun.
