Suspect charged in beating death of Cancun construction worker

Cancun, Q.R. — The main suspect in the January murder of a Cancun construction worker has been charged. On Friday, Javier “N” was charged with homicide after allegedly beating a man to death.

Javier “N” was charged “due to his probable participation in events possibly constituting the crime of homicide,” the State Attorney General (FGE) reported.

“The events for which the now linked person is accused occurred on January 12 of the current year at a construction site, where, in the company of other subjects, he allegedly beat the male victim to the point of depriving him of his life and later put the body in a drum and threw it in a green area,” the FGE detailed.

Javier “N” was taken into custody on an arrest warrant earlier this month. A Cancun judge has ordered him to remain in preventative detention during his trial.
