State returns to yellow epidemiological light after decrease in infections, hospital rates

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The entire state of Quintana Roo will return to a yellow epidemiological light beginning next week. Governor Carlos Joaquin announced late Thursday that the state has advanced forward due to a decrease in covid-19 figures.

He says for the week of February 7 to 13, the entire state will return to yellow, which means more occupation capacity rates for businesses. He said that the change in light status came after a reduction in the rate of infections and a decrease in hospital occupancy rates.

Until then, he stressed that the orange color remains until the 6th, with all health protocols, measures and hygiene habits in place.

Municipalities with a reported decrease in infections include Cozumel with 65%, Benito Juárez (Cancun) with 55%, Tulum 48%, Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen / Puerto Aventuras) with 31%, Lázaro Cárdenas (Holbox) 17%, Isla Mujeres 4%, Bacalar 2% and Puerto Morelos, who has registered zero cases.

Municipalities with increases are Felipe Carrillo Puerto with 3%, Othón P. Blanco with 26% and José María Morelos 105%.

“We are making good progress in terms of Covid,” he said. Earlier this week, the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, confirmed a downward trend in covid-19 infections across the country.
