State prosecutor says man believed to be major generator of criminal violence transferred to Cancun prison

Cancun, Q.R. — The recently captured Oscar D has been transferred to the Center for Social Reintegration (CERESO) where he will remain on two charges of murder and one charge of attempted murder.

At a press conference, State Prosecutor Óscar Montes de Oca Rosales reported on the capture of Óscar D, who he identified as one of the main generators of violence in the state due to disputes over drug sale control.

Montes de Oca said that Oscar D has been identified as the mastermind behind the broad daylight murder of city council member Ignacio Sánchez Cordero in Puerto Morelos in February.

Oscar D is also believed related to the shooting death of a financial operator of the same criminal structure, that occurred on April 20 of this year in the Alfredo V. Bonfil ejido area of Cancun.

Four others detained during his capture are being investigated for their alleged involvement in homicides committed against Cancun taxi drivers.
