Mahahual, Q.R. — A man snorkeling off the coast of Mahahual died over the weekend after suffering a heart attack. The unidentified man was part of an afternoon group snorkeling off Banco Chinchorro Saturday.
The man is reported to have asked for help saying that he felt unwell. He was pulled from the water and transported to shore around 1:00 p.m. where paramedics were waiting. However, upon assessment, medical personnel found he had already died.
Police were alerted to the death. They arrived to cordoned off the area while waiting for the medical examiner.
