Cancun, Q.R. — Six people arrested from a construction site in the Cancun Hotel Zone will remain jailed. The five adults and one minor were detained during an operation by city police last week.
They were arrested after being found in possession of firearms. Police in Cancun have continued to carry out surprise inspections of construction site workers after reports of illegal activity by local businesses.
Earlier this month, police made a surprise inspection at a hotel construction site in the Cancun Hotel Zone. At that time, there were no arrests, however, five people were detained during their latest operation.
Last week, the five were removed from a construction site after being found in possession of guns meant for exclusive use by the Armed Forces. They were arrested from a site at kilometer 9.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone.
Three guns, ammo, six cell phones and one vehicle were also seized during the latest operation.
