Cancun, Q.R. — Police in Cancun began a search operation Tuesday after the report of illegal activities in the Cancun Hotel Zone. Both civil and military authorities deployed in the hotel zone to inspect a construction site after reports of drug sales by nearby businesses.
The Tuesday operation was a follow-up to previous complaints of alleged armed drug dealers after recent allegations of the theft of construction material, extorted workers and drug sales. Narcotics dogs were brought in for a surprise inspection of the onsite workers.
During the operation, police did not find drugs, illegal substances or firearms. There were also no arrests.
In December, that same property was searched after police were granted a warrant for drug related activities. From that operation, 17 people were taken into custody and more than 300 doses of various drugs along with several weapons were seized.
