Chetumal, Q.R. — Significant material damage and one injured person was the result of a two vehicle collision along the Bacalar-Buenavista section of federal highway.
The accident was recorded by an emergency call to 911 shortly after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday when they received the request for medical assistance. Paramedics and elements of the National Guard arrived at the scene where they found a semi and van had collided.
Reports say that the collision happened when the driver of the semi invaded the lane of the van, causing him to leave the road. The driver of the van, 41-year-old Juan José N, was transferred to the Bacalar community hospital for medical attention with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi, 36-year-old Geovani N of Mexico City, said he attempted to pass the van when he collided with the Yucatan-plated vehicle. The driver of the semi was arrested and transferred to the National Guard office for the corresponding procedures. Both vehicles were transferred to a corral.
