The takedown occurred in SM 321 in an intense operation by elements of the Attorney General of the State (FGE) and Quintana Roo Police.

The Secretary of Public Security, Alberto Capella Ibarra reported the release of two victims during the operation that resulted in several detainees.

“In an operation implemented by the Quintana Roo Police, the release of two victims deprived of their liberty was achieved as well as the arrest of people related to high-impact events, assuring weapons and drugs at an address in Supermanzana 321, in the municipality of Benito Juárez,” Alberto Capella wrote.

Police were tipped off by area residents who reported the abduction. Seven people were detained along with numerous weapons, tactical gear and ammunition.

Reports say that among those arrested are two members of the armed command that carried out the kidnapping of two brothers in SM 232 earlier this month. The bodies of both men, who were videoed being forcefully removed from their home, were found dismembered days later.
