Chetumal, Q.R. — The driver of a trailer transporting bottled soft drinks overturned his unit on the Manuel Ávila Camacho – Lázaro Cárdenas section of roadway Friday. The driver of the unit reportedly suffered his accident after an emergency swerve to avoid another vehicle attempting to pass him.
Police reported the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when the driver, 40-year-old Heriberto S, swerved to avoid colliding with a car when the passing vehicle attempted to reenter the lane in front of him. That swerve caused his unit to overturn, landing on its right side.
Elements of the National Guard attended to the accident. The driver of the soft drink truck was not injured. The offending vehicle did not stop.
