Chetumal, Q.R. — Traffic was heavily backed up on a main Chetumal city avenue Thursday when a semi’s trailer broke free. The driver of the unit was leaving a material store fully loaded when the bed detached from the semi cab.
The trailer was loaded with structural steel and left jackknifed on a section of Constituyentes Avenue completely blocking inner-city traffic. The incident happened as the driver was exiting the material warehouse on Constituyentes Avenue in central Chetumal Thursday.
Inner city traffic was at a standstill Thursday afternoon due to the incident. Chetumal Transit officers were called to divert traffic to Corozal Street. It took city officials more than two hours to remove the stuck unit from the busy avenue.
