Sedena confirms second drug plane in two days

Mahahual, Q.R. — The Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) confirmed a second drug plane which has led to the arrest of two people as well as the assurance of the aircraft after a forced landing by the Mexican Air Force.

The illegal plane was detected over Mexican waters, which resulted in the deployment of air force personnel who force-landed the plane on an airfield outside Mahahual.

La Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena) reported the detection of an illicit aircraft from Argentina, which was tracked to waters over Cozumel and lead to the deployment of the Mexican Air Force. During the flight, crew of the illegal aircraft noticed the presence of the military, heeding to a forced landing at the Mahahual airfield.

Inside, police discovered nearly a ton of cocaine. Taken into federal custody were two men, the pilot and co-pilot, both of Bolivian nationality.
