Chetumal, Q.R. — The State Secretariat of Public Security reports the installation of 20 security cameras in strategic places throughout the city of Chetumal.
Alejandro Ocampo Galindo, the Subsecretario of Seguridad Pública of the state, says the installation of the cameras will help with the detection of criminal activity in the city, noting for now, the drawback is that they will not become activated until the C-5 (Centro de Comando, Control, Cómputo, Comunicaciones y Contacto Ciudadano) in Cancún is up and running.
In the meantime, he says they are in the process of completing the first phase of the project which includes the installation of 20 surveillance cameras. A second phase of another 20 cameras will be installed, followed by an additional 10 security cameras being placed in strategic areas.
He added that currently, the city only operates around 11 cameras and the additional surveillance will help strengthen security.
