Second shooting victim in targeted bar attack dies in Cancun hospital

Cancun, Q.R. — A second person involved in a Cancun bar shooting Wednesday night has died. Juan Carlos “N,” an active municipal police officer who served as a bodyguard, died of his injuries Friday.

His death marks the second in the attack inside a bar that was stormed by a group of armed men Wednesday. The bar, located on Huayacán Avenue, was under renovation at the time of the targeted shooting.

Police recovered dozens of .380 caliber and 9 mm casings from the scene.

A total of four men were shot. The club owner died at the scene. A second man died in hospital Friday. Luis Enrique “N,” 37, and Carlos Justino “N,” 46, a city employee who was performing maintenance at the premises, both remain hospitalized.

The State Attorney General’s Office has said drug dealing is their main line of investigation in the attack.
