Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A second shipment of Maya Train stone has arrived in Puerto Morelos. The second vessel, GLS Argosy which is carrying 26,000 tons of stone, arrived late last week. The head of the Secretariat for Sustainable Urban Territorial Development, Armando Lara, said the second shipment arrived from Cuba while the first vessel, Melody, continues to be unloaded.
“Another ship arrived with 26,000 tons. Currently, the other vessel, Melody, is in the process of unloading with a similar amount of porphyrite. The goal is to reach 2.1 million tons between now and November,” he explained.
As the cargo arrives, dozens of dump trucks are working around-the-clock to unload the boats and transfer the material to a site where it will be turned into ballast for sections 5, 6 and 7 of the Maya Train.
