Cancun, Q.R. — A second youth believed related to the shooting death of a Cancun police officer August 19 has been arrested. The Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) of Quintana Roo has reported the capture of Alexis L for the crime of qualified homicide to the detriment of a state policeman, in compliance with an arrest warrant.
The first investigations establish that the now accused is a probable participant in the events that occurred on August 19 in Superblock 68, where an element of the Ministry of Public Security lost his life as a result of firearm shots. In their statement, the FGE says the defendant was driving the get-away vehicle that was used to flee with the person who detonated the firearm.
The evidence collected by specialized experts allowed the prosecutors in charge of the case to request the arrest warrant and subsequently, Investigative Police officers completed the judicial mandate.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of a judge to face criminal proceedings. He will remain in preventive detention.
